The Western Hills Fire Protection District (WHFPD) is a Colorado Special District responsible for providing fire protection to certain areas to the North, East and South of Greeley, Colorado. The WHFPD contracts fire and emergency services to the City of Greeley through an intergovernmental agreement. This agreement allows for a high level of service to be provided to the residents and visitors of the WHFPD 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. Services provided by the Greeley Fire Department are paid for by the tax payors of the Western Hill Fire Protection District.
The Western Hills Fire Protection District owns a Fire Station located at 1731 Cedar Avenue and leases the use of the facility to the City of Greeley for the purposes of storing Reserve Firefighting Equipment. This Fire Station is not staffed and primarily functions as a storage and support facility for the Greeley Fire Department.
The Western Hills Fire Protection District consists of approximately 30 square miles and approximately 4,000 residents. The Greeley Fire Department responds to approximately 500 calls for service each year in the District’s response area.
